So i am heading down to oak island this weekend and was wondering where the fish are back water or out on the reefs. I have the capability with one boat to go out upwards of 40 miles. Or i have the skiff for back water. I have had luck on reefs this year and just don't know if the storm messed fishing up or if the king troll would be in force at this time. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated!

There have been puppy drum and big drum in the surf just behind the breakers. Haven't heard of anyone doing anything in the back water

^^^^^ I've heard similar.
Red Drum ,Black Drum and Trout in the Surf.
OC Pier landed 22.4lb King yesterday.
If you are OK with 40 miles I would venture out 65' to 90' of water or till I find that break and work that area where you see live bait on the bottom.
Sat/Sun forecast is 4 to 5 ft seas at 14 -19 sec periods and max 10kts, which will make for a nice smooth ride and lazy troll in most any boat. Wish my trailer was repaired so I could go this weekend. Picking up 2 new axles.

With all the sewer systems overflowing don;'t know i care to keep anything in close. my .02

Don't follow my earlier advice on going offshore Saturday. That NE and a secondary wave will not be a fun day.
Stay inside 10 miles and you should be fine. Its forecast to get worse after lunch

I left BWP 2 years ago and am at South Harbor now, so I use the Cape Fear now. I have only used LWF a handful of times this year.
