Black Sea Bass closed early this year due to Florida did not close black sea bass fishing in state water last year 2011- 2012… By them doing this we went over the ACL and we had to pay back the AM…
We need you to call your state and federal Congressmen and Senators and tell them to call the Florida state and federal Congressmen and Senators and tell them to put a law in place to close the water with in 3 mile when the SAMFC close black sea bass in federal waters… By them leaving the Florida 3 mile state waters opens they are hurting our fishermen and tourism in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia…
Here are the numbers from 2011
2011-2012 Preliminary Recreational Landings by Two-month Wave**
Jun 157,885gwlbs
Jul-Aug 227,864 gwlbs
Sep-Oct 71,722 gwlbs 34% Caught in Florida state water after federal season closed
Nov-Dec 1,213 gwlbs Caught in Florida state water after federal season closed
Jan-Feb 12,580 gwlbs Caught in Florida state water after federal season closed
Mar-Apr 13,013 gwlbs Caught in Florida state water after federal season closed
May not report by Florida yet for State water landings
Total Reported 484,277 gwlbs
2011-2012 Annual Catch Limit/Quota 341,747 gwlbs
Percent of ACL 142%
Federal Closure Date 10/17/11
We had to pay back 142,530gwlbs of witch Florida fishermen caught over 50,713gwlbs in state water from Oct 17, 2011 till April 31, 2012 no reporting for May yet from Florida
WE LOSE OVER 2 MONTHS OF FISHING DUE TO THIS…
This is not fair to this fishermen in NC,SC,GA to allow Florida fishermen to fish state water and we cannot fish our state waters when the federal season is closed.

This is just one of several Holes created by SAFMC's rush
to appease the enviro-nuts mandate. Data collection sources are flawed
& often mis-read or face several conversion factors that cause further data problems. I'm investigating commercial data and from what i've seen
the data doesn't flow and is handled by too many people. I'm currently at a stand still but hopfully I will find better access to the raw data I need.

I'm just hoping for better representation starting in Dec and maybe we can have some of those northern black sea bass migrate south of the Hatteras line and we can fish for that particular species year round.

As a member of the safmc advisory panel on sanpper grouper, this has been one of my greatest concerns. I have pushed several times during the a p meetings to start parceling up these quotas based on state by state historical landings. Until you, the recreational fisherman can come together and present a united front for the changing of these regulations. You are looking at the status quo. Not fair at all,,,,,,,,,

Because of the number of fisherman and biodiversity in Florida IMO Florida should stand alone as a separate entity. Florida is also extremely unique bc of its borders with the Atlantic and GOM.
