Trying to figure out a better setup than what I have currently. I don't anchor often because it's such a PIA and I want to do more bottom fishing. I've played around with this thing a couple years now.
Right now I have 20 ft of heavy chain and 200 ft of 1/2 inch rode with a danforth anchor rigged breakaway style.
Biggest issue is anchor locker space, this setup barely fits. Wondering if I can cut down to 3/8 inch rode, maybe cut down a few feet of chain. Would love to get 300+ft of rode in there. Also may look at some different styles of anchors if suggested but danforth may be the only thing that will fit.
Most of my anchoring would be in 80-130 fow.
Thoughts from the peanut gallery?

I have a 2008 Sea Hunt 24 Triton which became the Gamefish series. I'm not sure how the bow of yours is set up, but I have 2 fish boxes that are not in the floor but also double as seats. The fishbox on the port side is smaller than the starboard side. I keep the rode (rope and chain) in the port side. The anchor is kept in the center console itself. I have 250 feet of 1/2 inch rope and same amount of chain as you. When we are underway to our bottom spots I take out the anchor from the center console and let it set in the fish box with the hatch lid open since it cannot fit in there with the door closed. I also have another 250 feet of rope kept in the console if I ever need it, I can attach to the other.

I have a bit of the same problem. But I can manage the 300 feet if I finesse everything.
I saw a post somewhere (maybe on the key west site) where a guy installed a piece of PVC center of his locker for his anchor shaft to fit into. Once he did this he no longer had to finesse his line and chain and could fill the locker completely. I know if I did this I would have oodles of room because my only problem is getting the long Danforth shaft in the locker after I put all the rope in there.
I hope that makes sense.

I had a buddy that just had maybe 100' of rope actually attached to the chain/anchor, but had one one of the round plastic totes with rope handles that he threw in the boat if he thought he was going to bottom fish. Must have had another 200' of rope in there to attach if needed.

Our boat is a little smaller but we keep all my anchor rope in a plastic bag that the pop up camping chairs come in. As we pull anchor, we just feed it into the bag, keeps it organized, neat and easy to load and unload if needed. That way, when we put it in the anchor box, we just curl it around the shaft after we put the anchor in.

Best thing for you to do is keep your serious bottom tackle in a plastic barrel,Holds hundreds of feet,Cut the top off ,Add a couple rope handles,And your good to go,Just load it on the boat when youre gonna do some serious bottom fishing!

I'm digging that idea. 100 ft of rode with the chain and anchor in the locker, another 200 ft in a bag for when I'm going serious. What type of connector to join the two?

I splice both ends,Stainless thimbles of course,Then I use a big stainless carabiner to join the 2.Works flawless.I use to do alot of kite fishing while on the hook,Id cut my anchor rope every 100 feeet then splice it,That way I could drop the anchor on a anchor ball and chase the fish if need be.Works flawless as well.

I got a Sea Hunt 234, after fighting with 200' of rode and 20' of chain and trying to get the anchor in the locker I installed a nice bow anchor roller. Very happy with the looks and it works great, anchor pins on the roller and now I have room for another 100' of rode. I will try to post pictures

This is what I did. I have 300ft of 3/8 rope and 20 ft of chain rigged breakaway. I put a piece of pvc pipe (4 inch I believe) in back side of anchor locker with groove cut on front to allow for chain and shaft to slide down easily. Rope fits easily outside of pipe with chain on top. Have room for several hundred more feet of rope.

I've got a bow roller on my 24. 400' of 3/8" rode and 24' of chain fit in the locker, with plenty of room to spare.

I used to add to my 300 feet when i went into deeper water, I just had loops braided into my extra rope and looped them together, kept it very simple, drug it all day long, no problems.

Think I'm going with 150' with the 20' of heavy chain in the anchor locker and have another 300' that I will store separately and bring when I'm doing serious bottom fishing. Running 1/2 rode.
Been looking at those Hurricane anchors. Getting a lot of pub from the Florida guys about being able to use it with less chain. Hmmm....
