I'm looking to order a new 22 foot Sea Hunt. Max HP is 250. Many dealers' "standard package" comes w/ a 150HP. I plan to upgrade to a 200HP, but i'm curious to hear from any of you with specific experience w/ the 200 on this hull: 1) Have you ever wished you'd gotten the 250? If so, what were the circumstances? 2) Will the 200 get you on plane w/ a full load? 3) Any problem dragging a few kids around on a tube w/ the 200? 4) If you don't have trim tabs, do you wish you had them, and if so, why? If you have trim tabs and think they're unnecessary, i'd love to hear about that as well. Thanks in advance for your time, Will

1) Have you ever wished you'd gotten the 250? If so, what were the circumstances? I have a 250 on my 234 and I am glad I have in following seas and going through Bogue inlet. Other than that, the 200 would probably be fine. 2) Will the 200 get you on plane w/ a full load? Yep, been on a few 22’s with the 200 and it performed well 3) Any problem dragging a few kids around on a tube w/ the 200? Nope. 4) If you don't have trim tabs, do you wish you had them, and if so, why? I did not have them and put them in on by my third trip in the water. Yes, yes and yes you need them. Level your full load, get you on plan faster with load in the rear of the boat. Bow position in the chop. Best money spent so far. If you have trim tabs and think they're unnecessary, i'd love to hear about that as well. Thanks in advance for your time, Will

I just got a 225 Sea Hunt Triton a month ago and put the 250 on it. It's the same boat as the Ultra but has a larger live well. Debated the 200 but decided the extra cost would be worth it and I can say that was the right decision for me. Love the horsepower. She flat out jumps out of the water when you hit the throttle. The 200 would be a lot more fuel efficient so that may be a factor for you to consider. For pure performance, get the 250!

I previously had a Triton 225 and had a 250 on it. Wouldn’t want it any other way. Much more efficient and never felt overpowered. Nice to have electronic throttle as well. I discussed the 200 at the time, but the weight of the 250 was the same for a negligible increase in price. 250 and trim tabs would be my suggestion.

A friend of mine had the 250. No way I would go with the 200. Light the 250 will hit 52mph. Where it really shines is heavy. 4 guys, ice, fuel, and it would still get up and run. Having fished that hull with both there is no way I would take the 200.
A few words of caution, with the 250 trimmed all the way up the weight of the engine will make the engine turn to the side and the cowling will hit the corner of the splash well. Just put a bungee cord on the wheel when trailering or if you leave it in the water.
Also, if the live well door is open and you trim the engine it will hit the door and break it.
Minor issues in my opinion for the difference in performance. BTW, the 250 powered boat was .2 better on gas mpg at the same speeds.

Get the biggest motor you can afford. It will be more efficient because the motor won't have to work as hard at cruise speed, and then you'll also have more top end for when you want (or need) it.

I had a 234 with a 250 I would think your boat would haul a$$ with a 200 but that's just my opinion
