I have been looking to purchase a combo for offshore fishing and need help on deciding what type of rod and reel to buy, I have been looking at the Shimano speedmaster and think that it will be a fine reel for what I need, I mostly fish for snapper and kingfish with the occasional Tina and Cobia, I have also been thinking about buying a jigging rod to use for all types of fishing, bottom and jigging, still I would like to know what size of rod and reel to buy as well as power and line size, thanks

Your boat, or as a guest on someone else's boat? Hard to imagine going offshore with 1 or 2 rods.

My dads, and we have around 3-4 other cheaper combos, and 3-4 spinning combos for other things, I found out last year that the rods we were using, some penn reels, were incapable of even gaining an inch of line on some of the fish we hooked, so we settled to buy some heavier duty combos before the season starts again
