What's some of your favorite wahoo baits, lures and colors? Let's get back to talking fishing.
I'll start. I tend to like using lighter colors like a chartreuse/green sea witch over a medium ballyhoo on top and darker colors like red/black or purple black islander over a medium ballyhoo down deep.

Thanks for starting this topic! I cant add to it do to never being able to make it to the stream BUT now I will be able to and hope to get into some of that stream fishing! Iv got the rod and reels for it, now I just need to figure out what to pull and this should help from what others pull. As of now I only have a couple chuggers and sea witches I bought at a boat show lol

By far my best two bait combinations have been a blue/white Islander medium hoo on WWB and red/black sea witch medium hoo on my planer rod.

i have caught a bunch on a black and purple bwc jag....
you can guarantee at least one of those on a rigger and one Carolina blue mini jag on the planer rod

This is my all time favorite lure. If there's a hoo lurking, he goes for it.

A nice simple Drone Spoon, has caught more than one boat load.

X2 ... caught quite a few studs over the years running a drone deep ... plus don't have to re-bait on misses ...

What size spoon are you using? Are you using a trolling planer for it also? Or just pulling on the surface?

3 1/2's work plenty good. They work with trolling weights or planers. Wind on bridle's or not. Pretty much a rock solid item to have in your arsenal. There have been many days that those are our "meat" baits. On a side note, the owner of the company (Lev) I believe is the grandson of the fella that first hammered out one of these baits back in the 1920's if memory serves me right. There are a few do's and don'ts, with these spoons but nothing beyond common sense. Keep it simple, hooks sharp and they will catch. Frank

Pink and white, and purple and black wahinis and purple bling jags. Also red head,white skirt 2oz jag aka red headed slut. Never a trip that one of these doesn't produce. On the wahinis, I like to run them 3 and 3 and see what color is preferred. Then I run all baits the color of choice for the day. Pink usually out fishes purple and black, I don't know why!

I dont go offshore and not have a yozuri bonita out either on a planer or way back in center. I use the 10 inchers (the big ones) either purple/black or orange.

Crystal Witch with a little flash on a Ballyhoo on the planer. It has saved several trips. I've also had pretty good luck with a solid pink one up top too. Not sure it really matters when you are on them.

Like mentioned above crystal witch planer little flash..I like a purple head sail
lure on rigger with 1/4 0z lead, not pulling slow for hoo, pushing it as fast as baits will allow, reason for small lead on sail lure..pop and dig..jr islander on long line and of course Blue/white witch.. keep it simple..

I am hoping to give the wahoo a shot this weekend for the first time. I have about every lure possible from rubber chuggers to many sea wiches. I will run ballyhoo obviously. I dont have some baitless lures as well. My main question is speed...... I am thinking of around the 5 to 7 knots. depending on the conditions

Vanetta.. Dont worry about "shown" speed and rpm's. Make your baits swim with good rigging..You will be higher than that 5-7 knots, in my oponion for wahoo..
