Anyone ever heard of penning up pogys for several days or a week to make them stronger or more resilient? I've always thought they would die or turn red in a couple days in the pen

I donít think they will last long if you stick pins in them.... 😁

I've kept them overnight but I prefer to catch them on the day I fish. Also had problems with other people "helping" themselves to them and otters getting in the pen.

A friend used to pen them in a large pen in Atlantic beach with good water flow and said they would rebound strongly after a few days. Good strong swimming baits after that time. Second hand, what I was told but I trust his word. Good luck with efforts if you try it, Mother Nature can be a b*#+*.

You have to give them at least 3 days typically to come back around and be really good baits. If you can go longer then they will be better. You cant really throw them in a pen the night before and expect them to be good the next day. Key is good water flow and a sufficient pen size to allow them to swim and not overcrowd. Also, you need to be able to check it every day and cull the dead ones.

They can't handle Strong Current or large volumes of water change (i e tidal creeks or canals), unless you can shield them from the current flow.
