I have used go pro in past but recently switched to Garmin Virb. Both are fine but the Garmin Virb interfaces with my Garmin MFD seamlessly so I can watch bottom video on my chart plotter while offshore. Could never get Go Pro to work with my Garmin. So for my usage, its Garmin all the way

I run a couple of old GoPro Hero 4s, and it works great. I have gone through a couple of waterproof cases, though, since things tend to hit the deck hard on a rough run home (and I forget to take the mount off the rocket launchers).

Besides the basic stuff, I would add a heavy-duty clip on mount for the rail, and a spare battery or two.

That Garmin sounds interesting, though. If I didn't already have two GoPros and a pile of accessories, I'd probably check it out.

I take 2 cameras every trip. Nikon Coolpix AW120 & Go Pro Hero 7 black.( amazing stabilization = hyper smooth )
Both waterproof, small & compact with amazing video / still images.
Getting the money shot is key in filming.
Learning how to edits is extremely important for cool videos.........ICM

I just got a Hero 5 Black because it was half the price of a hero 7, but you can find used ones with a lot of accessories for around $100 on Facebook.

A gopro fusion is on my wish list just to give a little variety in shots.

i've got the Hero 4 & 5 Session as well as the latest 7 Black

I really prefer the Sessions due to their size and form factor, I mainly use them to fly drones but the sessions size just makes it a better choice for fishing. The only problem is, they've discontinued the Session line of GoPro so any you're today buying are used

this video was shot on the Hero 4 @ 1080P 60FPS and a Gear 360 camera

https://youtu.be/jUKB3O23plg

now the Hero 7 Black is vastly superior but you get what you pay for. Also the battery life is atrocious with hypersmooth turned on but unlike the Session models you can swap out batteries

Be sure to change youtube setting to play the video at 4K60fps, if you can handle it

Really enjoyed the Drone video, especially the Gator low angle chasing your lure.
Great music choice, was it free. What web site?
Could not get 4K to play on YouTube . Could it have been the way you posted it originally?

Keep those video coming.......ICM

The "Spring Breaking Drones in Florida" was probably my best video to date -- the song was Odesza - Memories That You Call

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiMl9Maz-SY

unfortunately the video was all 1080P @ 30-60 fps -- I only used my DJI Spark drone + GoPro Session 4 on a racing drone for all the footage. For the gator I just plopped the gopro on the shore and tricked the baby gator into putting on a show for the camera

it appears my "4K" link was broken so it was never available

Here is a comparison of similar drone flights, one in 4K @ 30fps on the Hero 5 Session: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55fdikpwDq8
This one in 4K @ 60 FPS with Hypersmooth on the Hero 7 Black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwiZmYI5cP4

I still have my Hero4 Silver. Like it since it has a touchscreen.
