If I register my boat as a commercial fishing vessel and participate in commercial fishing, will my standard insurance cover the vessel and those onboard, or do I need to take out a different policy?

Seems to me your insurance agent would be the best person to answer that.

A personal watercraft policy specifically excludes operations other than non-private pleasure operations. This would include charter, hire, carrying persons for a fee or any other commercial, corporate or business use unless you obtain written consent from the insuring company. Odds are you will not obtain written consent and will need to purchase a policy specifically for commercial use. If you need assistance, please PM me, I will be glad to help you out.
