I have a Single E-TEC 300 and have lost all faith in it and being able to get it serviced. I bought it with 275 hrs on it in 2012.
I can not complain too much as she has never left me stranded in the ocean but she does not always WANT to go fishing....
Went to start it the other day and she would not turn over. I have been having this issue for a while now (replaced everything and took it to a mechanic) as I have 2 young Boys 3.5 and the other is barely 1 and have not been able to run it much.
With them getting into prime fishing age I want something more reliable.
I would like to go 4 stroke as filling up the oil tank gets OLD.
Please kindly tell me your experience with your preferred brand and the Good, bad and ugly about your experience.
Thank you in advance!
Gus

I have had both Suzuki and now Yamaha. Both are very good and reliable. Yamaha has a little more pride in their parts, based upon cost. I put a 300 zuke on my old Edgewater. Sold the boat to someone on this site. I don't want to give out his name, but I am sure if he sees this he will respond. My new to me boat has twin Yamaha 250's.

I am repowering now.. or should I say I ordered a new engine two months ago and now I am waiting for a ship date....
Yamaha has a huge back log on larger engines.
You might have to look around a lot to find what you want in stock

2nd that! I was just told by a dealer that the boat market would be interesting this year due to shortage on engines. He said Yamaha just dropped at least 2 boat manufactures as customers. I have owned Suzuki and Yamaha engines, wouldn't hesitate going back with either on a new boat.
