Was wondering if someone could explain what exactly hard bottom refers to on these maps and what all the black and green dots mean. Thanks in advance. Newbie

I haven't looked at my map in a while but hard bottom is exactly what it says, a hard bottom which is probably rock. I can't remember exactly but I believe the black dots are rocks, ledges and reefs and the green dots are live bottoms like coral. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't used my chart in over a year.

There should be a map symbols area. Black dots are the live bottom areas, low & moderate relief.Green dots are updates from last printing.
