Went out yesterday from Masonboro at 630. Joe and I explored some new areas and practice anchoring techniques for next year. First time we used a buoy to mark ledges and bottom structure. Out about 26 miles and Reef Cast was right on smooth seas. Found some great bottom area and caught some fish. Great day in November. Watrer temp was 62 degrees when we left andd at 25 mile mark 72 degrees.

Good job! Wish we could have been out there, looks like the grunts were hungry.

Do you filet the grunts or how do you prepare them. I have caught many of them, but never have kept them.

Grunts are excellent eating, just a pain to clean. don't get a whole lot a meat off of them. But I do keep the larger ones.

Take a big one, scale, gut/gills removed, stuff cavity, put a few shallow slices in fish, salt, place sweet onion slices with bacon covering all, bake, chow down, and go to bed fulfilled and happy ... one pan meal with aluminum foil ... if you wish for Utopia eat a baked sweet potato with it ... party1

Fillets from a grunt. Nice fillets and mighty tasty. Broiled grilled or baked

Add a few ringtails and a trigger fish to the list.
