I have been making this grouper jig for myself with good results. The prices are $15 each for the (purple, white, and blue) and $17 each for the glow blue one and if you want them un-rigged with no hooks take $3 off the price per jig. The glow ones have 3 coats of paint and the glow paint is non toxic and wont degrade in sunlight. Some of the advantages of the jigs are:
1.) With the eye loop on top they seem to hold the bottom better then similar type jigs.
2.) They are rigged with a Gamakatsu circle hooks straight eye 4x strong 8/0 with one on a snap ring and one on 250 lb Kevlar stinger hook loop.
3.) Most of the larger fish where brought in on the stinger hook.
4.) the heaver 16 oz weight help hold and get to the bottom.
5.) Powder coated finish to handle the large fish and rock well.
6.) They also seem to help keep the bait away from the sharks.

Bait used on the jig range from whole cigar minnows, whole squid, whole ballyhoos, large cut bait, and live and dead pinfish. should be fished flat on the bottom.

ordering info:
local pickup in Wilmington NC or shipping with payment thou paypal. shipping is 7.15 for first 6 jigs pm for information on more.
pm me to a range orders.

Whenever you caught those grouper, did you just cut the line off the jigs? Looks like in two of those pics the jigs are not even connected to a main line unless for some reason I just cannot see the line in the pics. I know some companies have been known to "stage" pics displaying the fish with their lures in the fish. Not saying this is the case here. I am sure these Jigs work well.

the grouper shown in the top two images tangled up with other lines in the water had to undo the snap swivel to get the jig free.

HHey gdog,
I bought several of these jigs last season. I only took them out once but the time they did they tangled up pretty bad. Do you have any advice on how I can avoid? I'm likely going to give them another shot in a couple of days. Thanks

i crimp them to a leader them to a barrel swivel. so i can clip them on to a snap swivel on the main line. do not bonces them off the bottom fish them flat on the bottom with slack in the line at time if need to keep them there. do not jig them up into the water, leave them flat on the bottom i would not recommend drifting with them anchor so they don't snag. use big bait whole squid whole cigar minnows other bait fish you may get out there etc... hope this helps

Looks to me like if you are having to put that much bait on it the Jig is just serving as a weight ?? May as well just use a sinker and hook. ??

Pretty close design to the Snapper Slapper. I have had luck with those so these should produce also. But if I had to put that much bait on it I would agree with just using a hook and weight.

Do you offer custom colors, or skirt options?

Looks identical to the Decoy jig Tim Barefoot has been selling for years. They work great so no reason why this shouldn't.

The jig shape is similar but a lot heavier. The skirts are a little longer and are a heavier material. The skirts themselves seem as if they are heated put on to the jig and then cooled to shrink against the jig.I have used (and still do Tim's jigs) I am also using these. Both work equally well. I'm not sure if Tim is still making them. I know he has been busy the last years with his new business.

Anyone that wants to complain about them looking like another, you realize you can buy the mold to pour them if you like? There's a couple companies that sell the mold in a few different configurations and weights

I wasn't complaining, only way to make things better is to have good competition so I applaud him for buying the molds and taking that step. Just stating that they should produce fish due to looking similar to a lure that has produced before. I will definitely be buying some of them eventually due to the fact that I can choose the color combinations.

the large bait help keeps the smaller fish from hooking up they will pick at it thou the that help help call in the bigger fish that eat it whole thous are the one i like to hookup with you can use smaller bait but you will get more fish and smaller fish on it. all up to how you fish them.

Looks like in two of those pics the jigs are not even connected to a main line unless for some reason I just cannot see the line in the pics.

I see line on all three pics. The swivel is under the fish nose on the first, hanging from the mouth on the other two. Good computers are priceless ... wtg

Wow this is late. He already said the snap swivel on the main line was unhooked from the leader going to the jig. Knowing how to read is "priceless".
