Finally broke the grouper curse on POPATOP

Left the Masonboro Inlet around 0600hrs headed out to the ledges on flat seas. Caught a couple of grunts and a bee liner. Moved several areas and Joe dropped a pin fish and BAM rod doubled over, Joe started cranking on the reel and in a few minutes we had our first grouper on the boat. Felt good on opening day to clear the curse on POPATOP. Continued to fish and picked at the grunts bee liners and tons of red mouths. Left the fishing grounds and came in at 40 knots to the inlet back home at 1600hrs fished clean mess cleaned up and eating dinner before the sun set. BEAUTIFUL day. Had a Pod of Porpoises around the boat for 20 minutes or so and man did they put on a show. Saw one of the biggest turtle ever come up by motor.

looks a like a great day. I've yet to catch a keeper as well. I am determined this year. Put all the bait stealing pinfish to good use!
