I have a job at Elizabeth City. I was going to take my boat and do some offshore fishing. Does anyone have any suggestions as to ramp. Area. Bait. I have never fished there. Anything will help

The ramp near the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is very nice. It can be busy on some days. There is also one at the bridge near Pirates Cove that is very nice, although further from the inlet.
As far as fishing, there are folks here way more qualified than me but I will tell you what I do. For offshore, get a subscription to SEECast here so you can find the general area to start in. It is usually a long ride at Oregon Inlet, so be prepared for that. You want to find a spot on the 100 fathom curve where there is a good temp break if possible. If you don't have access to that information then just follow the charter fleet, but be sure to give them plenty of space to fish.
Most folks troll ballyhoo rigged with various heads in front of them - islanders, moldcraft, seawitches, etc.
One last thing- beware that Oregon Inlet can be treacherous in some conditions. If a swell is running towards the inlet, and the tide is going out, it can get dangerous for a normal trailer sized boat. So, be careful and watch the weather conditions. The coast guard also has a number you can call for inlet conditions.
